His major works include The Seasons of a Man's Life (1978), Seasons of a Woman's Life (1996, with Judith Viorst and Sharon Levinson), and On Becoming a Man: The Initiatory Phase of Men's Adult Lives (1986). His fields of specialization were adult development, stage-crisis development, life transitions, men’s development, and women’s development.
